TRANSMART has developed an automatic video detection (AVD) system that can provide the class and the location of objects in real-time. In particular, the resulting product can not only extract geometric and dynamic characteristics of an object (i.e. pedestrian, cyclist, vehicle …etc.) but can also trace its trajectory. Trajectories are essential to retrieve data associated with proximity, relative velocity, headways, gaps, turning movements, counts …etc. Existing ADS systems rely on standard Artificial Intelligence (AI) detection and sorting logics developed by the computer science community. TRANSMART improved such logics by adapting them to answer to transportation needs and to improve the safety and mobility of users in crowded city environments.
